Lapochka Stormfly at the Border Collie Specialty

Showing

Conformation showing is an important part of the Lapochka breeding program.

We believe the show ring provides an opportunity to objectively assess our Border Collies against the breed standard and to evaluate the qualities we are working to develop within our dogs.

Our dogs are shown with pride, with results considered alongside their structure, movement, breed type, temperament and overall development. For us, showing is not simply about collecting awards — it is part of the process of developing and assessing the Border Collie over time.

SHOWING BEYOND THE DOGS

Showing is also about the people behind the dogs.

At Lapochka, we value the development of young handlers and the opportunity for them to learn the skills, discipline and presentation involved in the conformation ring.

In 2026, Mila was Runner-Up Junior Handler of NSW, an achievement we are particularly proud of.

THE NEXT GENERATION

The show ring is one part of how we assess the dogs we breed and the direction we take with the next generation.

What we see in the ring is considered alongside health, pedigree, structure, movement, temperament and working ability. Over time, these observations help us decide which dogs we want to carry forward and what we hope to improve in the next generation.
