Lapochka Stormfly, Chazara Sentimental Sammie and a member of the Lapochka family

Breeding

Breeding decisions at Lapochka begin with the dogs themselves.

We consider pedigree, breed type, structure, movement, health, temperament and working ability, looking at both what a dog brings to a pairing and what the combination can produce.

Our aim is to develop Border Collies that are sound, capable and unmistakably of the breed — dogs with the structure and presence to stand in the show ring, and the instinct, intelligence and character to do the work.

What We Look For

Chazara Sentimental Sammie, black and white Border Collie

The Individual

We look at each dog as a whole — its breed type, structure, movement, temperament, intelligence and natural ability. No single quality defines a breeding dog; it is the combination that matters.

The Pedigree

Pedigree is considered alongside the individual dog. We look at what sits behind a dog, the qualities that have been consistently produced, and how different lines can complement one another.

The Pairing

A breeding is considered for what the two dogs can produce together. We look for complementary qualities, soundness and balance, with each pairing chosen to contribute something worthwhile to the next generation.
